About Us

Context

Australia is one the wealthiest nations in the world. Yet, it is also a country where around 100,000 babies are killed in their mothers’ womb every year. In fact the overwhelming majority of these babies are well over 8 weeks old, when facial features, hands and feet are already obvious. Many have even started playing with their fingers and toes, and sucking their thumbs. Others are kicking, doing somersaults and smiling. Some are older than babies in our hospital nurseries. Those babies who survive the abortion are simply left to die gasping – in a steel dish, or dropped into a bucket of formaldehyde. And while this is occurring, there are lobby groups and political parties, who profess to be ‘progressive’, demanding abortion laws be extended. They want abortion up to birth – as in Victoria.

About us

AbortSA.com is a grass roots advocacy group, made up of everyday Australians, campaigning to protect the rights of unborn children. In a society where there are more rights for animals, trees and the environment than for unborn children, we know it’s time to make a stand.

We believe the right to life is the most basic of all human rights, and that this right belongs also to the unborn child. Why? By virtue of the fact that he or she is a human being.

We therefore uphold the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of the Child (1959) which states every child “needs special safeguards and care, including appropriate legal protection, before as well as after birth”. 1

Moreover, we affirm human rights are rooted in the Biblical concept that all people are created in the image of God*, giving them innate dignity and worth regardless of their culture, colour, health, religion, sex, age, ability, born or unborn, or any perceived value to society.

In our efforts to protect the unborn children of this country, we are committed in bringing the truth about abortion to the public’s attention; to show that abortion is an act of extreme violence toward every child in the womb.

We acknowledge the rights of the mother must be protected, but we also acknowledge women’s rights must not be to the exclusion of the natural rights of another human being.

Through our AbortSA.com website, media campaigns and speaking events, we seek to expose the lies and distortions of abortion advocates and abortion organisations, and replace their destruction with life-giving alternatives.

We strongly encourage providing practical and financial assistance for mothers during and after their pregnancy. We also support better adoption laws when mothers (and fathers) want to relinquish their child for whatever reason, and we support adoption laws that make it easier for couples to adopt.

AbortSA.com aims to make politicians accountable for bringing in good laws that protect our smallest and most defenceless fellow human being – the unborn child.

  1. United Nations Declaration of the Rights of the Child (1959) Read Preamble and Principle 1

*”The values that [Australians] have cherished and sought to strengthen are in large measure founded on  the Judeo-Christian belief system.  The many freedoms, advantages, opportunities, values and  liberties which  characterise the West owe much to the growth of Christianity with its inherent belief in the dignity of the human person as created in the image of God and the code of behaviour that flows from this belief.” Canberra Declaration

NOTE: There are a number of well known humanitarian organisations that many have come to expect would protect the rights of the child in the womb, such as Save the Children InternationalAmnesty InternationalNew Internationalist, GetUpetc, but these groups are regular campaigners of abortion. They believe it is a woman’s “reproductive right” that abortion is available at every stage during pregnancy; or in other words, right up to birth.
